Zamboni Catches Fire

CNN has video of a Zamboni catching fire.  There’s little audio, no report, and no links to a report.

A quick search led me to find the rink was in Aston, PA: Zamboni fire forces Aston ice rink evacuation.

A zamboni caught fire while resurfacing the ice after a high school game at a suburban Philadelphia rink.

The Ice Works filled with smoke about 11:30 p.m. Friday and the facility was evacuated. No injuries were reported. The zamboni was badly damaged.

Maybe this’ll end teams from using the “Fire on Ice” marketing cliche we’ve heard too many times?  Ok, just wishful thinking.  On a serious note, it’s a good thing no one was hurt, and the facility still has operational rinks.

  4. I asked my dad how that could happen- he’s a zamboni driver and former fire fighter and we’re small town Eastern Canadian hockey people- and he said that the fire looked like the fire started in the motor and that a propane leak could have caused it.
