The Draft is Coming

If you’re not into counting days until the puck drops next preseason, the 2006 NHL Draft is only 11 days away.  A lot less counting for the mathphobic (arithmophobia is the fear of numbers if you want to sound smart).

There’s no shortage of draft articles to read.  First, there’s Hockey’s Future’s Draft Center.  If you’re not lost already, some AOL interns have put together NHL DraftNET (via Ted Leonsis), although their blogroll seems to be missing something…

CNN warns us more Staals are a comin’!  I have a sneaking suspicion most diehards are already aware, but it’s nice to see the oft hockey-phobic SI have piece like that (Cup-related due to the oldest Staal brother).  Another phobia mention, we’ll make it today’s theme.  There’s no special word for hockeyphobia or anything related to pucks or sticks, so I’ll give you consecotaleophobia, the fear of chopsticks.  Yeah, ok, bad idea for themes… anyway…

If you have the urge to go to Vancouver for the draft, VCOE is looking for you.

Here’s the draft order:
1. St. Louis Blues
2. Pittsburgh Penguins
3. Chicago Blackhawks
4. Washington Capitals
5. Boston Bruins
6. Columbus Blue Jackets
7. New York Islanders
8. Phoenix Coyotes
9. Minnesota Wild
10. Florida Panthers
11. Los Angeles Kings
12. Atlanta Thrashers
13. Toronto Maple Leafs
14. Vancouver Canucks

The next 16 are based off of the playoff results.  Pick well with #29 Edmonton.
