The Countdown Is On

Not until the next season, not until the draft, but for the Mighty Ducks name change.  With a countdown clock on their website, it seems they’re quite happy to move on from the Disney image.

In January the Ducks announced they were dropping the “Mighty” part of the team name.

Sportslogos.net released a news item showing the possible new logo oopsed out by the NHL Shop.  The Ducks will most likely release new logos (primary and alternate logo[s]) and possibly the new-look jerseys shortly after the name change.

The Sabres are expected to unveil new jerseys within a few weeks as well.  There are rumors about a Caps jersey change, but I’m not sure if that’s planned for this next season, the following season, or at all.  Any info on that would be appreciated.

Update June 22 1pm: mightyducks.com says 50 minutes to go.  anaheimducks.com says “COMING SOON”.
