Spidey Sweaters and the Miracle
From the Detroit Free Press:
Looking forward to when the NHL comes back with a new and improved product, apparently research has shown one thing fans might like is tight sweaters. An NHL official told SI.com the prototypes of new uniforms are “sleek, something that implies motion even at rest, like a ski racer’s uniform or Spider-Man’s costume.” Now if they could come up with something that implies motion in the labor talks.
Umm… ok. All I can think of is the very funny, awkward scene from Spider-Man 2 between Tobey Maguire and Hal Sparks.
[man steps into elevator. Spider-man is in the elevator]
Elevator Passenger: Cool Spidey outfit.
Spider-Man: Thanks.
Elevator Passenger: Where did you get it?
Spider-Man: I made it.
[pause]
Elevator Passenger: Looks uncomfortable…
Spider-Man: Yeah, it’s kind of itchy…
[pause]
Spider-Man: ...and it rides up in the crotch a little bit, too.
Well, at least the sweaters can’t ride up in the crotch area.
Also in that article is a reminder that today is the 25th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice and that ESPN Classic will be showing a 2½-hour special at 8 pm, with a repeat at 11:30. Set your DVRs if you missed the special the other night on ESPN2, which I think was an hour shorter. Also - one hour before all that, at 7 pm, is the ESPN “The Headlines” series, showing #1 headline, that being the Miracle on Ice.
