Interview with Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis

PJ said he spent an hour talking with Leonsis. It’s great of him to take the time out of his schedule to connect with the hockey bloggers. It wasn’t long ago he invited Eric McErlain to go to a game with him. From his words and actions it’s obvious Leonsis sees the value in fans of his team and the sport, and how bloggers are becoming part of the media themselves.

Hopefully other owners will follow Leonsis’ lead.

I think of Mr Leonsis as a very good leader for the Capitals. Take September 1999 as an example, and how he handled the whole Chicago issue. I quite enjoyed how the Blackhawks played their games during that preseason, and the first few games of the regular. Obviously many didn't, including Mr McPhee who had had it. Leonsis said the right things and avoided any further unnessecary bad press. Recently, he received an Andrew Heiskell Community Service Award from Time Warner, AOL's parent company.
