Poeschek Agrees to 60 Days in Jail

Rudy Poeschek, who was arrested after crashing his car last month, has agreed to a sentence of 60 days in jail, of which he has already served 37.

He’s also moving back to Canada to be near family (and I assume to try and turn things around for himself).

The 38-year-old mortgage broker, who saw most of his NHL action with Tampa Bay, told Judge Denise Pomponio that his family has a contract to sell their Tampa house and he plans to move back to his native Canada.

“I think it would probably be in the best interest of everyone if you left the country,” Pomponio said. “I’m not saying that in an ugly way or a bad way.”

The judge asked if Poeschek was getting a ride to British Columbia, where he has relatives, or if he would fly.

“I’m not going to drive,” he said.

“That’s what I want to hear,” she responded.
