Mike Sillinger Inks His Eleventh Team

The Islanders have been very quiet this offseason.  No buyout on Yashin’s contract and today their first signing was announced.  Mike Sillinger signed a three-year deal with the Isles last night.  This will be Sillinger’s 11th NHL team.  With 32 goals and 63 points last season Sillinger posted some of his best career numbers.  He’s known as being a good faceoff man (something the Islanders could use) and a good two-way player.  If age isn’t a factor, the signing is definitely a good move for the Islanders.  Plus, you could go into one of the corner sections and easily make a couple of rows of Sillinger jerseys, all from different teams.  If memory serves correct he wears 16 or 18 most of the time.  He wore a flipped 81 last season (Adam Hall wears 18, Darcy Hordichuk 16).  Mike York wears 16 for the Islanders, Miro Satan has 81, and 18 was last worn by Jeff Hamilton, who isn’t a full-time NHLer, but could still have dibs on the number.  Sillinger’s also worn 11, 21 and 26.  So your guess is as good as mine as to what number he’ll wind up taking.
