Lockout Jerseys: Cool or Nasty Reminders?

Last weekend I saw someone wearing an Alaska Aces jersey* at the Canes-Devils game in New Jersey.  I couldn’t see if there was a name and number on it, but I assume there was, and even if not, that it was because that’s where Scott Gomez played during the lockout.

Wearing the minor league team’s jersey of a player on your favorite team is cool, no doubt.  Eric Staal’s Lowell Lock Monsters jersey is undoubtedly more unique than his Canes jersey.

But what about Joe Thornton’s HC Davos jersey?  A Scott Gomez Aces jersey?

Some might still be bitter, although I think you can get away with a Shane Hnidy Florida Everblades jersey with no hard feelings.

Are they collectors items or just reminders of a lost love?

* Swap “jersey” with “sweater” if you still insist they’re made of wool
