Lights… Camera… Hockey!

So here I am waiting for the puck to drop, watching the pre-game show on NBC.

I don’t want the NHL to be like the NBA, it’s a different product, but they are doing some things right, especially broadcast-wise.  I was wondering why NBA games started at 9PM ET during the week, and one of the reasons could very well be getting a pregame show into a slot that most affiliates would be willing accept.

The NHL should lean on NBC next season for a primetime Cup Finals pregame show.  While the puck doesn’t drop exactly at 8PM ET, it’d be nice to have something more than a series highlight reel before the actual game started.
