Ignore It, It’ll Go Away

What up gorilla?

When United States tv ratings for hockey games were low last season, we were able to blame the lockout and a new network.

When attendance figures are low (and still low) we can blame the US, poor performing teams, other sports and scheduling.

When Canadian tv ratings fall we can blame expectations, scheduling (even though that rivalry scheduling leads to the highest ratings) and force critics of the game to point out that “fans like it”.

What will happen when Canadian attendance drops?  The answer to that one is easy, of course: move the team to a “stronger, larger” US market.
