Have Some Nothing

There were four shutouts in six games tonight.

There haven’t been four shutouts in a single day since Nov 15, 2003. There were twelve games played that day.

Not playing for an entire season makes that date seem a little farther in the past than it really is, although all this scoring can’t lead to so many shutouts, can it?

Last season Brodeur led the NHL in shutouts with 11. Last night's was his first of this season. At the rough halfway point of this season there have been 42 total shutouts, so we're on pace for about 84. Last season there were 195 (by my quick count). 4 in one night doesn't worry me.
