ESPN, Crack and You
ESPN: Vote: SportsNation’s 2006 NHL Awards
Crack: Nominations for MVP:
Daniel Alfredsson, Senators
Jaromir Jagr, Rangers
Mikka Kiprusoff, Flames
Marek Svatos, Avalanche
Joe Thornton, Sharks
Cy Young award winner Svatos (32g, 18a in 61 games)? 6th on his team in pts Svatos? He’s a good player, perhaps a great player, but league MVP?
The spelling mistakes are fun: Matin Brodeur, Predatos, “teh Adams Award”.
You: Current MVP results:
70.0% Marek Svatos, Avalanche
15.0% Joe Thornton, Sharks
11.8% Jaromir Jagr, Rangers
2.5% Mikka Kiprusoff, Flames
0.7% Daniel Alfredsson, Senators
Total Votes: 93,106
The crew over at HF Boards is having a blast with this.
Thanks to Jamie Fitz for the pointer.
Comments:
That is hilarious—Svatos is up to 73% now with 100,000+ votes. It’s even more insane when you think of the other players ESPN could have brought into the Hart Trophy conversation…Cheechoo, Heatley, Ovechkin for example. Even selecting an MVP of just the Avalanche I’d choose Sakic over Svatos.
Posted by Otto on Apr 21, 2006 at 06:20 PMIs there a campaign to rig this vote? If so, I kinda like it… right back in ESPN’s ‘face’ for such a stupid inclusion.
