ESPN Blocks NHL Ads
From Larry Brooks:
NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly and NHL Enterprises president Ed Horne each told Slap Shots this week that ESPN has refused to accept commercial advertising from the league. It’s always interesting when bullies - we’re not referring to individuals, but rather entities - collide, isn’t it?
ESPN has a no competition agreement in terms of ad sales on the network: “Affiliate shall not insert into the ESPN network advertisements or promotions of any sports program.” It’s the same reason ESPN stopped showing UFC ads.
Comments:
Is this a line in the sand being drawn by ESPN against SpikeTV and VS.? I mean do they still accept bull riding ads?
