Ducks Owner Happy; Fedoruk’s Absence Explained

The now non-Mighty Ducks owner Henry Samueli is thrilled over his team’s performance and is already looking forward:

“Getting to the conference finals?” Samueli said. “How could you predict that at the start of the season, with a whole new lineup, players, coaches, staff? Everybody did a phenomenal job, from Brian on down, Randy, everybody. “I’m so excited about the future because of the young kids we have.”

The OC Register also clues us in as to why Todd Fedoruk went missing after a strong game 3 in the Conference Finals:

Ducks left wing Todd Fedoruk missed his second consecutive game because of an infected right elbow, the team revealed. The problem came out of nowhere, appearing Thursday in Edmonton, Fedoruk said.

In about five and a half minutes of ice time Fedoruk fought Oilers’ Georges Laraque twice, had one of the Ducks few blocked shots (it should come as no surprise that Scott Niedermayer led the team with three) and had at least one noticably strong shift cycling the puck in the Oilers’ zone, helping create a couple of scoring chances.  Fedoruk was held pointless in the playoffs after posting a career-high 23 during the regular season.
