Brodeur Joins Competition Committee
The Competition Committee had one major goal in mind when forming: goals. Tweak the game to create more goals, more flow and make it more exciting. In the process it seems goaltenders have been run over. No goaltender was on the Competition Committee, and some thought that if at least one were, a goalie’s perspective might help some some of the problems plaguing goalies this season, other than rising goals against averages. Martin Brodeur has been added to the committee today, representing NHL goaltenders. I’m not sure if the perspective of a three-time Cup winner, future Hall of Fame goalie who might shatter most records by the time his career is over, will accurately represent the average NHL goaltender, but I’m sure most are happy that the number of goaltenders on the committee has increased from zero to one.
