Best Buy Kickin’ Leafs Fans While They’re Down

This Best Buy commercial, from Québec, is in French.  However, you don’t need to speak a word of it to know what’s going on.

Something to note: The father/daughter combo (presumably) are wearing #19 and #26.  No current Canadien wears those numbers (and they’re not retired).  The Leafs fan is wearing a nameless #14 jersey.  Matt Stajan currently wears #14 for the Leafs.

  2. No class by the french…..again.  I’ll never shop at Best Buy.  Notice how it’s only shown in Quebec.  GAY!  First time in 8 years they don’t make the playoffs and it’s a party.  How many times has Montreal made the playoffs in the last 8 yrs? Do we make stupid commercials when they don’t make the playoffs?  Waste of time and money. See ya next year Montreal.  Ya bunch of Fags!

  3. Ease up there Nate, this is what Hockey should be, a bunch of fun. Teasing other cities etc, this keeps the fans happy and stirs up the fans in Toronto.
Are you mad becuase leaf fans didn’t think to make a funny commercial first???
Anyway, enjoy your early golf season, I will be watching the playoffs…

  4. Fair enough. I’m jumping on the Montreal bandwagon now that The Leafs have gone down the pooper.

  5. hey guys, what a stupid comment is ‘stupid bastard’.
Do you really think BestBuy is a company from Quebec, and that this ad was MADE by quebecers?!

No, idiot! It was made to APPEAL to quebecers…so dont blame them

  6. FYI, Nate

This ad airs in English as well. As an anglo-Quebecer (that means English-speaking Quebec citizen, Nate) I first saw this commercial aired by your Leafs-own Hockey Night In Canada-faluting CBC network.

I’m sure that you will in fact shop again at Best Buy, or perhaps in your defiance you would so choose to shop at their competitor and, OOPS, recently acquired subsidiary Future Shop.

I’m sure their 6-figure a year ad and marketing execs are cowering in your dislikening to their recent and *obviously* effective campaign.

Cheer up, Nate. If you can’t stomach the idea of supporting les Tricolores, you can always lend a halping hand to your closer of two evils, Senators.

And don’t feel bad about not rooting for them either. Cause they hate the Leafs almost as much as Habs fans do.

See you on the greens, Nate. And tell Quinn to stand by his phone; apparently Vancouver still cares for him…

  7. Its a good unique commercial, and you have to know that if it was the other way around Best Buy in the Toronto region would have been playing a similar commercial.

Kudos to Best Buy for having the game to step up with a commercial like this.  Most people would fear alienating their customers in other regions but Best Buy knows good fun when they see it.

As an aside it’ll be interesting to see how many times the leafs make the playoffs in the next 5 years….I’m going to to say 2. They simply don’t have the talent to contend and their pipeline is drier than the sahara.

  8. Hey Nate, how many times have the leafs won the cup since 1967?  LOL.  Get over yourself. . .

  9. Nate

based upon your childish remarks, you likely were not even alive the last time the Leafs won a cup.

By the way Nate, the Canadien only hang banners when they win Stanley Cups, not playoff appearances as the Leafs do.

Barilko may be back from that fishing trip before the Leafs win another Cup

  11. Geez, all you fucking anglos can do is complain and complain.  No action like us, the French!  Keep bitching.  Meanwhile, we’ll take our sovereignty, make the dumb english pay for it, and keep racking up the Stanley Cup wins!!  Suckers
Allez les Habs all the way!  Les Maple Leafs sont juste des goons!

  12. Ahh turn a commercial into some racist rant.

Just another indication that Leaf fans are losers.  Oh, BTW, the French live in France asshat.

    Go Habs Go
